CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Bond was set at $800,000 Friday for a man charged with shooting a bartender outside a Little Village neighborhood tavern on Wednesday night.

Adolfo Zuniga, 27, of the 2900 block of West 25th Place, was taken into custody Wednesday night and charged Thursday with aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

About 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, a 29-year-old bartender was outside the bar in the 2600 block of West 24th Street when Zuniga allegedly walked up and shot him twice, police said.

The bartender was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and groin, police said. His condition has since stabilized.

Zuniga was detained after officers on patrol saw him running from the scene, police said.

He appeared in court Friday and Judge Maria Kuriakos-Ciesel ordered him held on an $800,000 bond, Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Stephen Campbell said. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 9.
