Man arrested outside Sedona for assaulting wife

Updated:

SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man beat his wife and dragged her by the hair from an apartment in the Village of Oak Creek.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that 35-year-old Michael Tafoya was released on bond from Camp Verde Detention Center.

Deputies say Tafoya forced his teenaged wife into his SUV on Tuesday night and punched a 16-year-old male relative who tried to intervene. Tafoya fled before authorities arrived.

Investigators located his SUV Wednesday just before 4 a.m. down the street from his Rimrock home.

They found Tafoya hiding under a bed. The victim sustained several visible scrapes, cuts and bruises.

Tafoya also faces charges of assault, unlawful imprisonment, intentional injury to another and disorderly conduct.
