Senior Swims With Dolphins And Fulfills Lifelong Dream

VALLEJO, Calif. -

An 87-year-old woman got to experience her lifelong dream of swimming with dolphins on Wednesday.

Her opportunity was made true thanks to the Stay Young Foundation, which gives the elderly once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Texas and the Vacaville Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center. Virginia Groah and her daughter Nancy joined Six Flag's marine mammal trainers in the dolphin pool, while other members of the family watched.

Four dolphins swam around Virginia and allowed her to touch them. The dolphins held their heads in her hands, danced in the water and extended flippers out to playfully splash Groah.

Then Groah got to ride on a dolphin for a few seconds.

"It's great. I can now tell everyone that I did something crazy at 87," Groah told The Daily Republic.
