3 javelina run wild at St. Theresa Catholic School

PHOENIX -

We've all heard the story of the three little pigs. But here's the story of the three javelina running wild on the campus of a Phoenix school.

"Oh my gosh I jumped," says Maureen Fyan, principal of St. Theresa Catholic School.

It's easy to understand why. This guy and two of his friends were running wild at St. Theresa Catholic School.

"You know they say white people can't jump, well I jumped," she laughs.

With students safely tucked away in their classrooms, Game and Fish was called in -- and for good reason.

"They have really long and really sharp canine teeth," says Darren Julian, Arizona Game and Fish.

But these critters were more concerned about getting away than they were with biting. No divine intervention needed in this roundup.

Just a rope, net and a tranquilizer gun. But just as they closed in...

"All of a sudden here comes this little guy just shooting across the parking lot!" says Fyan.

It was off to the races again.

"That javelina was pretty fast."

Dashing here and there, SkyFOX had the best seat in this wild chase. Back on the ground, crews moved into place and tranquilized all three pigs.

With all three fast asleep in kennels, our camera got an up close look at the three wild ones that will surely keep kids on this campus talking about their day for some time to come.

The principal wonders if they were just showed up early for this weekend's fall festival.

"We're going to have pink piggy races at the fall festival on October 19," says Fyan.

The festival is coming up, but those javelina won't be allowed back. They're safe and sound at Southwest Wildlife. They'll eventually be returned to the desert.
