It's something many Vikings fans have been clamoring for some time: The benching of Christian Ponder.
Ponder will not play on Sunday in London against the Pittsburgh Steelers because he has a fractured rib. In his place, Matt Cassel will get the start. Some are questioning whether this is just the Vikings way of sitting Ponder down without having to bench him solely because of performance.
However, this begs the question, would Ponder be benched for this game if the team was 2-1 or 3-0 and he was playing well?
Some odd comments have also come out of the mouths of a couple of Ponder's wide receivers. Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson both gave cryptic quotes to the media that suggest they aren't that unhappy with having Cassel under center this Sunday.
Michael Rand, sports editor with the Star Tribune addresses these quandaries and talks about if this is the beginning of the end for Ponder and if there's any chance he's the Vikings quarterback for the 2014 season.
