Three Year Old Saves Mom

Posted: Updated:

He's just three years old, but he knew what to do when his mom started having a seizure. On Thursday, the little boy was recognized by Mesa firefighters for his actions in helping save his mother.

"911 emergency," said the dispatcher.

"Yeah," he said. "My mom, mom…"

With his mom yelling and seizing on their family room floor, three-year-old Guy Fritsche picked up the house phone and hit three numbers.

"Nine and then one and one," Fritsche recalled.

"I don't even know what happened. The next thing I knew is when I came to," said mom Katie Fritsche said.

Guy was actually adopted from foster care. He grew up with two other children who are autistic, so he has a speech delay. His mom says that it's amazing he was able to speak so clearly to the dispatcher.

Even when the 911 operator couldn't understand him, guy kept calm.

"He's very very patient to describe what he's trying to say or find another way to say it. He doesn't get frustrated," described Fritsche.

"We want to thank you for what you did that is awesome," Guy was told as he got honored. Guy was honored at Mesa Fire Station 201. He even got to check out the fire truck!

He also tried on gear.

"I think it's a little too big. It's a little too big," he said as he tried on the helmet.

Mom, Katie and her husband adopted guy in June of 2012, they call him a blessing.

"This is our little boy who is just giving us a second chance at life," Katie Fritsche said.

He's just a toddler, but this bright eyed little boy wants to keep saving lives and become a doctor when he grows up.
