EAGAN, Minn. (KMSP) -

Two Dakota Hills Middle School students in Eagan, Minn. were offered candy by a stranger who had driven to their bus stop after they were dropped off from school on Thursday afternoon.

A letter to parents said the bus serves an area north of Wescott Road, and the incident occurred at Elrene Road at Great Oaks Trail.

The students are safe, but the school is urging parents to have conversations with their children about what to do if ever approached by a stranger. Parents should caution children to be aware of their surroundings.

A description of the suspect vehicle was not made available, but Eagan police are investigating the incident.
