Review OKs demolition plan at Lowertown ballpark site

Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

The demolition subcontractor working at the future Lowertown Ballpark site said their current approach is "the best way" to demolish the remaining Diamond Products building in downtown St. Paul.

Part of the concrete building collapsed earlier this month, killing backhoe operator Johnny Valek.

Rachel Contracting reviewed its demolition plan to determine if any modifications should be made following the accident.

Ryan Companies and St. Paul officials are expected to approve additional details of the demolition plan by the end of day Wednesday. Once approved, demolition work will resume at the future St. Paul Saints ballpark site.
