HOPKINS, Minn. (KMSP) – The cash and checks just keep coming in the mail, along with 20 Minnesota Wild tickets sent by the team owner to Joey Prusak. His list of admirers keeps on growing.
After all the attention this Dairy Queen manager's been getting for his good deed, we finally got to meet Kailyn Benson. Benson is the Dairy Queen co-worker who posted a picture of the customer letter praising Joey for confronting a woman in the store who refused to give back a 20 dollar bill dropped by a blind customer.
"I was actually getting worries when it started getting so much popularity because I thought he was ging to get mad at me," Benson said. "I kinda just wanted his mom to see it, so it on facebook and shared it with a couple friends. The next thing I know it's everywhere."
By now most of us know Joey decided to give the customer 20 dollars from his own wallet. News of that generosity spread quickly, in fact all over the world. Even billionaire Warren Buffett, owner of the Dairy Queen Empire called to congratulate him.
There are two Dairy Queens in Hopkins, and the one on Blake Road where Joey doesn't work, is getting a lot of calls as well.
Joey's the manager at the one on Main Street, but the publicity has been incredible for all the franchises.
"It's really really not annoying, it really got me smiling," Joey said.
Some people now wonder if Joey can be for Dairy Queen what Jared has been for Subway Restaurants.
"I would take being the new Dairy Queen Jared, but I'll just take it one day at a time and see what happens."
