Rainfall Thursday and Friday - KMSP-TV

Rainfall Thursday and Friday

Posted: Updated:

More much needed rain fell across many areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin Thursday into Friday, but some severe weather came along with it. Golf ball size hail and winds to 77mph were reported with a cluster of storms that started in southwest MN and moved northeast through the far west and north metro right up to Lake Superior. You can see the exact path of this storm on the storm reports map below.

More importantly though, this storm system dumped some much needed rainfall across many areas. Some obviously getting more than others with as much as 3 inches of rain reported in the Big Lake area. Most other locations though experienced far lighter amounts with a quarter to a half inch pretty widespread. Check out the radar estimation in the picture below…

Pretty easy to pick up where that cluster of severe storms was located… started around Marshall and Redwood Falls, and quickly rolled northeast all the way the Lake. The rest of us dealt with light rain or quick hitting heavy rain as a couple different clusters of storms moved through. More rain is needed with the drought conditions continuing for many areas.
