Pharmacy thieves take off with $50k in pain killers

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Oakland Co. deputies were called to the Medcenter Pharmacy on Ortonville Rd. in Independence Twp. early Friday morning. Within a matter of minutes the suspects broke into the store through a glass front door, broke into the pharmacy area through another door, took $50,000 worth of prescription drugs and fled the scene, police say. The suspects made away with mostly pain killers such as Dilaudid, Methadone, Morphine, Oxycontin and Vicodin.

This is the second time this pharmacy has been stolen from in the past six months. The FBI is looking at a group of suspects known to target pharmacies in connection with the store's first break-in lastMarch, but say it's still too early to tell if the same group may be involved in the most recent incident.
