ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Xcel Energy confirmed a road contractor struck a natural gas main Wednesday morning in the north end of St. Paul.

Xcel Energy is currently working to seal off the rupture. The line was struck west of Interstate 35E near Farrington Street and Arlington Avenue.

Officials were evacuating homes and blocking roads in the area as a precaution.
