Remembrance In Light Ceremony Honoring Bucks Co 9/11 Victims

LOWER MAKEFIELD, Pa. -

Lights shined bright on the Garden Of Reflection in Lower Makefield Township on a day still marred by darkness. Solemn tributes and American flags were raised, as dozens turned out to remember those killed on 9-11. The ceremony was full of touching moments.

Jennifer Reiss stood before the crowd on a day of mixed emotion. She's grateful for the opportunity to keep her brother's memory alive, but still emotionally scarred by his loss.

"My life was flipped upside down, inside up and right side up," recalled Jennifer. Her brother Joshua was 23 years old, working in his office in the World Trade Center, when he was killed in the terrorist attack.

"I decided that I was going to live my life for him since he was no longer able to himself. For me, believing he is with me everyday gives me the motivation to be the best person I can be because I want him to be proud of me," said Jennifer.

The garden bears the names of victims of 9/11, etched on glass. 18 of the 2,973 victims were from Bucks County.

Bobbie Kulp came out to last year's commemoration too.

"One of my daughter's best friends was in the second tower, and so I come and think about not only him, but his mother who I know well," said Kulp.

Perhaps the most moving moment of the night was the reading of victims' names at the sound of a bell. Joyce Anderson knew two of those lost.

"It was absolutely lovely tonight, as it was last year. It was very meaningful," she said.

42 lights illuminate the walkway, representing the number of children in the county who lost a parent in the attacks. A maple tree has also been planted for each local victim.
