WEDNESDAY WX: Get Ready For A Cool Down

After our mini heat wave earlier in the week, many of you may be wishing for cooler weather. This week, your wish will most likely come true. Two shots of fall like air are in the forecast for the week ahead. Thanks to Canada, and the big blue "H" on the on the map below, our weather is looking quite and dry. Dry for the most part at least.

Call me a geek, but I love climatology, I guess it's because it's one of the few parts of weather that is set in stone. It is what it is! Below are the average highs and the average lows for the week ahead.

As you can see we will hover near our seasonal norms, and mostly likely slightly below them for the next 7 days. That means highs around 70 and lows in the upper 40s.

Looking ahead we see two shots of cool air. The first shot settles in early Friday morning as we see lows for some parts of the state down into the 40s. It's even possible that the Twin Cities will not make it out of the 60s for your Friday. There is even a FREEZE WATCH posted for parts of the Arrowhead for Friday morning. The second shot of cool air comes in during the latter half of the weekend. This re-enforcing shot of fall could pop a few showers and storms into Sunday morning. Then the high builds in and we enjoy sunshine and highs near 70° for the start of your work week.

Here is what one forecast model is suggesting for the highs and lows come Monday. You can read the legend at the bottom of the map to see that temps will struggle to get to 70 after starting in the 40s.

Enjoy the cool down and remember that Fall officially starts on September 22 this year, at 3:44 PM.
