ATLANTA -

Two separate accidents involving Atlanta Police officers sent one of those officers to the hospital.

An Atlanta Police Department spokesperson tells FOX 5 News that started during the early morning hours Wednesday when an officer in one of Atlanta's newest police patrol cars got a hit from a license plate scanner that a passing car had been reported stolen.

The officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver took off. That car made a quick turn at the corner of Forrest Park Road and Forrest Circle in southeast Atlanta. This caused a second patrol car that had joined the pursuit to slam into the initial officer's vehicle.

One of the officers in that accident was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and officials say that officer is expected to be okay.

A second crash happened when officers pulled over a suspected stolen vehicle along Moreland Avenue. Police say officers were stopped on the side of the road with their lights on when a woman driving a Volkswagen came over a hill and slammed into the stopped police unit. It then bumped into the back of a second cruiser.

No one was injured in the second crash. The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, will be charged with Driving Under the Influence.

It is not immediately clear if the two suspect stolen vehicles police were pursuing were the same.
