Dozens hurt in bus-car crash in Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An MTA bus and a car that apparently ran a stop sign to get away from police collided in Brooklyn, injuring dozens on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

At least 43 people were hurt in the accident, which happened at Herkirmer Street and Albany Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section at about 4:38 p.m.

The car, a black Chevy Camaro, was traveling at high speed, police said. The Camaro had collided with a police car, the NYPD said. Officers pulled it over and noticed that the driver had a gun, police said. The Camaro then drove off, hit several parked cars, went through the stop sign, and was broadsided by the bus, police said.

Four people were seriously hurt, the FDNY said, including two men who were in the car. Cops arrested them. Charges are pending.

Many others were able to get off the bus on their own feet, but medics checked them out at the scene.
