NYC Primary Day

Posted: Updated:

It is Primary Day in New York City. Polls are open and will close at 9 p.m.

A new poll shows Public Advocate Bill de Blasio leading among likely voters in New York City's Democratic primary with 39 percent. The Quinnipiac University poll was released Monday.

To find a polling site near you, visit  NYC.PollsiteLocator.com or call 1-866-VOTE-NYC or visit NYCVotes.org to download a poll locator site application.

The latest poll shows former Comptroller Bill Thompson in second place with 25 percent. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is third, with 18 percent.

To avoid an Oct. 1 runoff, a candidate needs more than 40 percent in Tuesday's primary.

A Sept. 3 Quinnipiac poll showed de Blasio with 43 percent, Thompson with 20 percent and Quinn with 18 percent.

Among the candidates for New York City comptroller, a Sept. 4 Quinnipiac poll showed Scott Stringer with 47 percent and Eliot Spitzer with 45 percent.

The primary winners will face each other in the general election in November.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.

“I was supposed to be dead before last Easter," said Valerie Harper about her diagnosis of cancer in the lining around her brain.  Harper's indomitable spirit and the support from fans of her character 'Rhoda' in the 1970s hit series 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' has kept her going. "It’s a tasty headline," said Harper about the magazine where the inaccurate report was made.
