Allentown Mayor Announces 2014 Run For Pa. Governor

Posted: Updated:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski announced Sunday, on the Melissa Harris-Perry show on MSNBC, that he will run for Governor of Pennsylvania.

"As mayor of the third-largest city in the state and president of the Pennsylvania Municipal League, I have seen first-hand the damage that has been done to our Commonwealth over the past four years under the current Administration," said Pawlowski, who is finishing his second term as mayor of Allentown. "Mr. Corbett has a Republican-controlled Legislature...and yet he cannot find ways to work with them to accomplish his agenda."

Pawlowski cites his reversing of an $8 million budget deficit in Allentown, leveraging of local, state and federal funds and implementation of a variety of neighborhood improvement projects as examples of his ability to find common ground and reach across the aisles to make progress.

Pawlowski will hold a rally tomorrow in front of City Hall in Philadelphia at 5:30 p.m. He will talk to voters about strengthening the public education system in the state.
