Mesmerizing Lava Flow

Posted: Updated:

Something many of us don't get to see in our lifetime (and in many cases you probably don't want to) but lava flows might be one of the most magnificent spectacles Mother Nature can provide.  It's often called the art of "island building", but Mount Kilauea on the big island of Hawaii, remains to be one of the most active volcanoes on earth.  It spews lava in a less destructive way then some, allowing the lava to just flow out of its peak rather than explode out like Mount St. Helens did in 1980.  It is still extremely dangerous since flowing lava can be some two thousand degrees, but it can make for some amazing timelapse photography.
