Minneapolis police confirm a 2-month-old child was shot in the neck on the city's north side on Thursday night.
The department confirmed the shooting took place in the 2400 block of Emerson Avenue North at about 9 p.m.
The baby was in critical condition Friday morning at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Investigators say the child's father was standing outside, holding the baby in his arms, when he ducked to dodge a bullet and then realized the infant was struck. He then called 911.
No arrests have been made.
Thursday's shooting took place within five blocks of where 3-year-old Terrell Mayes was shot and killed by a stray bullet that entered his home as he climbed the stairs. His killer still has not been found despite a $60,000 reward.
