`Transformers` return to blow up Chicago this weekend

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The movie "Transformers 4" has been blowing up Chicago since early this summer. Now, filmmakers will be shooting scenes on LaSalle Street between Lake and Jackson this weekend, shutting down vehicular traffic Friday evening at 6 p.m. through Monday morning at 7 a.m.

So what buildings in Chicago's Financial District will make the cut? The private bank building at LaSalle and Monroe? A director might say it's a great shot of the city's buildings and it's gothic look would be a good fit.

Or do you think editors will take a close up of the Chicago Board of Trade building to let moviegoers check out the Statue of Cere at the top?

Either way, Chicagoans say they're excited about production and they won't be inconvenienced because all of the action will be happening on their off days.

"That's exciting," one person said. "I love ‘Transformers.' I'm looking forward to seeing that."

So, while vehicular traffic will be completely shut down this week, producers say extras like can come down and watch. Keep in mind that they're working with trained professionals and if you're asked to move, just do so. Their goal, they say, is to keep everybody safe.
