The kids are back in school, the weather is no longer boiling hot, and all the outdoor water parks have closed their doors for another year. Does that mean that there is nothing exciting and summery left to do? Not at all! Your family still has time to have summer fun, for less, if you act now.
Although their Soak City Water Park is closed for the season, ValleyFair's main park is open until September 15th. Better yet, there are still discounts available on ticket prices. Participating Burger King restaurants have coupons available for $10 off regular admission, and SuperAmerica has $8 off regular admission coupons. You can also buy tickets in advance at Cub Foods and save $10 off each regular price admission. Your best bet is to buy your tickets online and save $11 per ticket – just log on to http://www.ValleyFair.com.
MN Renaissance Festival
The Renaissance Festival is open every Saturday and Sunday, now until September 29th. If you buy tickets at the door, you'll spend $21.95. But if you buy them in advance online, you'll save $3. The savings also apply if you buy them at SuperAmerica or Walgreens. If you do buy at the door, bring along a $3 coupon, available at Papa Murphy's, Dunn Brothers and Subway.
The cheapest fun to be had, if you don't bet on the ponies, is at Canterbury Downs. The last six days of racing, September 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14th, are FREE admission days. And on the final race day, September 14th, Canterbury is also hosting their Food Truck Festival. You can enjoy races and tasty, inexpensive food from trucks like Anchor Fish and Chips and Tot Boss. www.canterburypark.com

Friday Night Flix
If you're in the northeast side of town on a Friday night, swing by the Shoreview Community Center at dusk for their Friday Night Flix. They show movies for FREE in the Haffeman Pavilion. There are still two shows left for the season – on September 6th it's Mighty Ducks and on 20th it's Ghostbusters. Bring the family, a few blankets, snacks, and enjoy a FREE movie under the stars still this season. http://www.shoreviewcommunitycenter.com/programs/special-events/friday-night-flix
