COLDEST LABOR DAY SINCE 2000

Labor Day is the unofficial end to summer and it sure felt that way this Labor Day. After a week of sweating to the 90s we spent a day in the 60s. It's the last day of the fair and last day before back to school. In Minnesota we have come to expect a big bite in the air this time of year, but it still stings nevertheless. A cold front came through this weekend giving us some strong storms in parts of the state, and today the cold air moved in, with some parts of the parts of the state dipping into the lower 40s.

The afternoon was not much better with lots of clouds and a northwesterly wind adding insult to injury. Many parts of the state did not even get out of the 60s.

In Minnesota we are used to big temperature swings this time of year. It's a bit too early for summer to call it quits and a bit too late to expect another long term heat wave. To add some perspective, below is a history of Labor Day high temps over the past 7 years.

Enjoy the wild weather everyone and don't forget, 3 weeks until fall.
