SHOREWOOD, Minn. (KMSP) -

A 58-year-old Shorewood, Minn. man found dead in the freezer of a home he shared with his girlfriend has been officially identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Eddie Sole was found deceased on Aug. 21 at 5700 Wood Duck Circle. His exact cause of death remains under investigation by South Lake police and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Charging documents filed against Sole's live-in girlfriend, 29-year-old Jetaun Wheeler, allege he may have been beaten to death with a closet rod before his body was wrapped in plastic and placed in the freezer.

Wheeler faces a charge of second-degree murder in connection with Sole's death, but prosecutors may seek first-degree charges as the investigation goes on.

Sole had been missing for weeks when his body was recovered. Police believe he may have been killed in early August and frozen for weeks before his discovery.
