Joe Mauer said his concussion symptoms have gotten better, but he's not quite ready to return to the field. In the meantime, the Twins catcher said Thursday "it's not any fun watching" his teammates as he continues his recovery.
Mauer spoke Thursday morning before the Twins' afternoon game against the Kansas City Royals.
Mauer hasn't played since Aug. 19 when he took a hard foul ball off his catcher's mask. He has been dealing with light sensitivity and balance issues, but resumed light exercise on Wednesday – a sign of progress.
While the Twins' season may be lost, Mauer said he hasn't thought about shutting himself down for the year. There's still no timetable for his return.
