THURSDAY WEATHER: Heat Advisory; Few Storms; Holiday Cool Down

After a foggy, and for some, a stormy start, this Thursday looks to deliver M.O.T.S (More of the same), Heat and humidity! First of all to speak of those storms in Northern Minnesota early today, they are moving to the east and southeast, so there is only a 20% chance that the metro will see any of them. Heads Up to our friends in Cambridge, Mora, Pine City, and North, as some of those storms could contain large hail and damaging winds if they redevelop this afternoon. Here is the latest from the Storm Prediction Center on the chances for severe weather early this afternoon.

As far as the heat and humidity, its still hanging around. Today we are actually a bit better off as the Excessive Heat Warning is no longer in effect. High temperatures today will be in the lower 90s, Dewpoints will be in the low 70s, giving the heat index enough fuel to once again try to make it to near 100°. There is a HEAT ADVISORY in effect until 9:00 PM for the counties shaded in orange on the graphic below.

Looking ahead, There is relief in sight for the later part of the upcoming Labor Day Weekend.

Cool air will move in from Canada and push the heat and humidity back to where it belongs. 90s are still possible through Saturday. Then hold on, highs will fall to the mid-70s by Labor Day. Ahh, fresh!
