Two people were killed when they were hit by a car after stopping to change a flat tire along I-75 north on Monday. Two people were killed when they were hit by a car after stopping to change a flat tire along I-75 north on Monday.
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -

Interstate 75 is back open in Clayton County after a deadly crash shut down the northbound lanes for hours.  Authorities say two people were trying to change a flat tire when they were hit on Monday morning near Jonesboro Road, and both of them were killed.

According to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office, a woman and her brother were headed north on I-75 just north of Jonesboro Road when they got a flat tire.  They pulled over to change it, and they were hit by an oncoming vehicle.  

As a result, traffic was backed up for miles, and the accident led to several other fender benders.  No one else was hurt.

I-75 north was reopened after 2 p.m.  

The names of the victims were not immediately released, but authorities said they were not from the area.
