History was repeating itself at Salem Baptist Church. Parishioners held up signs calling for justice just like church members did nearly 50-years ago in October. On that day, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior spoke to the Jenkintown congregation.

"It was awesome. Just awesome," recalls Rosetta Schaffer.

The memory of King's speech that day is forever etched in 89-year-old Rosetta Schaeffer's mind.

"Growing up and knowing all off the difficulties and racism and what not. And to see what has happened through the years is a lot. We've come a long way," says Schaffer.

Dr. King's speech at Salem Baptist was only the second time the civil rights leader had spoken at a church in Philadelphia. Copies of saved bulletins from the historic night were used again in this weekend's replicated service. A recording of Dr. King's address to the church also played as children brought the words to life.

Dr. King's legacy and history also runs deep at Calvary Baptist Church in Chester, Pa. He taught Sunday school here while attending Crozer Theological Seminary for three years.

"We believe social consciousness of the Civil Rights Movement began right here," says Pastor Bayard Taylor of Calvary Baptist Church.

A mural on the side of the Chester Church serves as a reminder of Dr. King's significance to the community.

Back at Salem Baptist in Jenkintown, as the congregation and nation pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of Dr. King's March On Washington, the impact of the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. King's dream is not lost on 10-year-old Dylan Burney.

"He went through so much to help us so I could get to have great education," she says.
