Dirty Sprite death: 2 charged with providing drugs, alcohol at 2012 party
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) -
It's been just over a year since 14-year-old Pauviera Linson was found dead in the bedroom of her St. Paul home the morning after a party in Burnsville, Minn.
Two men who were arrested but released without charges in her death are now facing charges of providing drugs and alcohol to the girl.
According to police, Linson and a 17-year-old girl went to a party on the night of Sunday, Aug. 5 night two men, Jacob Sawyer and Robert Kibble, ages 20 and 26.
Kibble and Sawyer were arrested last August for third-degree murder, but released with no charges filed. Now, the Dakota County attorney has charged Kibble and Sawyer third-degree sales of a controlled substance and furnishing alcohol to minors.
According to the charges, Linson and her friends were given alcohol, marijuana and "Dirty Sprite" cocktail made with codeine cough syrup, sometimes called "purple drank" or "lean."
An autopsy revealed Pauviera Linson died of a mixed drug overdose. Toxicology testing revealed she had methadone, codeine and morphine in her system.
