Neighbors in Shorewood say they are frustrated that police are releasing so few details about a death investigation involving a missing man whose "frozen" body was removed on Thursday.
Shelby Breault told FOX 9 News she watched from her porch as the death investigation unfolded at the duplex next door at about noon on Wednesday.
"Next thing I know, the lady gets home and police pull in after her and go into her house," Breault recalled. "She's in handcuffs and in the car."
Overnight, police removed the body of a man who was reported missing from the home at 5700 Wood Duck Circle, and that sight was even more alarming.
"He was frozen in like, a sitting-up position," Breault told FOX 9 News.
South Lake Minnetonka police did not confirm any new details today, instead reaffirming that they do have a person of interest in custody.
According to Hennepin County Jail records, Jetaun Wheeler was held for probable cause. Neighbors who were shown a mug shot from a 2009 DWI conviction in Duluth told FOX 9 News she is the person they saw in handcuffs.
On Thursday night, the jail roster updated to say Wheeler had been formally booked on suspicion of murder.
Residents in the area told FOX 9 News Wheeler moved into the duplex with her three children at the beginning of the summer. Since then, police visits have been frequent. Neighbors say she's been arrested in front of her children before.
Some in the area say the death investigation is the last straw because police are present about once a week.
Little information has been released about the man, but investigators did confirm he had been reported missing. Neighbors described him as being in his mid-50s, but his relationship with the person of interest remains unclear.
Investigators trying to locate the missing man had previously asked neighbors about any strange burning smells over the past couple of weeks, and that has residents and detectives alike eyeing the partially-charged piece of rolled-up carpet in the backyard with suspicion.
