BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (KMSP) -

Brooklyn Center police are investigating the death of a man who was found behind a Super 8 Motel early Thursday morning.

Police received a call around 3:30 a.m. Thursday and have now marked off a crime scene between the Super 8 Motel and Denny's restaurant located in the 6000-block of James Circle North off James Avenue North.

Brooklyn Center police Cmdr. Tim Gannon said officers discovered the man in the back parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He died of his injuries after paramedics attempted to revive him, police said.

Police are still searching for a suspect. About 15 Super 8 guests were detained for questioning and as a result, many were late for work.
