Just weeks after severe weather swept across the metro, a new line of strong storms brought hail and strong winds to southern Minnesota.

Shortly before 3 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northern Le Sueur County, northeastern Nicollet County, Scott County and southeastern Sibley County.

The storm formed a line extending 7 miles south of Shakopee to 6 miles south of the Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area to Gaylord, Minn. It is moving southeast at 20 mph.

Just before 3:40 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued in Dakota County after the storm regained steam 7 miles east of Lakeville, Minn.

The main concerns with the storm are quarter-sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts that could cause damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and plants in the area.

Scattered storms are expected to continue to develop as a cold front moves into the hot and humid air. Some may be strong or severe.
