Vikings stadium lawsuit demands citywide vote

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

A Hennepin County judge heard arguments Tuesday morning in a lawsuit that claims the new Minnesota Vikings stadium project should be put to a citywide vote.

Minneapolis mayoral candidate Doug Mann says the stadium deal violates a city charter requirement of a referendum on any sports facility project worth more than $10 million.

The lawsuit isn't expected to stop construction of the new Vikings stadium because the final bill approved by the state legislature includes an override of any referendum provisions in the city charter.
