It's been a long day at a Phoenix day care. The staff arrived Monday like they do every day. But what they found wasn't the norm.
"Somebody came to destroy the place more or less."
Ralph Montoya owns Out of this World Daycare -- and he could not believe what he saw when he arrived Monday morning. Room after room at the school, trashed.
"I found the doors open, I found my office trashed, windows broken, a wall unit of A/C in that window, they took that out to get inside."
The kids play room, ransacked. The vandals even dumped cereal and milk all over the floor. He's been going through the mess all day long. He's cleaning up -- and trying to determine exactly what was stolen.
"Computers, TVs, stereo, tools, cameras that type of thing."
But the person or people behind this didn't just ransack the school trying to steal items. They were intent on vandalizing it.
"For some reason they got toner all over the place," says Montoya. "Parent files, teacher files, they have it all over the floor with toner on it."
Montoya says while he's saddened by the crime, it will not deter him and his family from continuing to serve the community and the kids of the school.
"It's good to see the children bouncing back, they're playing, doing what they do, encouraging one another."
And he has a message for the vandals.
"I hope they get. They need to face up to what they did and pay and learn hopefully they learn this ain't right and they shouldn't do that to other people."
Police are investigating, but as of tonight, there are no suspects.
