Former school bookstore manager accused of embezzling $72K

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -

A woman who served as bookstore manager of North Canyon High School has been convicted of theft. Officials say she embezzled $72,511 in public money from July 2007 to November 2009.

According to the Auditor General report, Former Paradise Valley Unified employee Beverly Hodges embezzled $67,162 for her own purposes and misused the remaining $5,349 for the bookstore staff's personal food and beverage purchases.

Hodges pleaded guilty to theft and agreed to pay $72,511 in restitution to the school district as part of her plea agreement.
