Tornado strikes North Ga.; top winds reach 105 mph.

FRANKLIN, Ga. (AP) - National Weather Service forecasters say a tornado touched down in western Georgia Sunday night.

Meteorologists in Peachtree City say the EF1 twister touched down in Heard County near the Alabama border around 7:40 Sunday night and peeled the roof and front porch from a mobile home.

County Fire Chief Scott Blue says the home is still inhabitable, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Officials say the storm moved east and had a path of approximately half a mile.

Blue said the storm hit a mainly rural area and caused mostly tree damage.
