Scott Lomu & George Wright: We Got Robbed On Camera

Posted: Updated:

Two Americans lose all their money in the real estate crash of 2008... So they go to the jungles of Africa...to mine for gold. That's the premise behind Discovery Channel's reality show ‘Jungle Gold', back for its second season.

Fun Facts About Jungle Gold:

  • is an American reality television series on the Discovery Channel that debuted on October 26, 2012.
  • The series follows George Wright and Scott Lomu as they attempt to earn some cash in order to recover from losing everything in the real estate crash of 2008. It focuses on the duo as they encounter the task of gold placer mining in the Ashanti Belt along the Birim River in Ghana of West Africa.
  • The tools they use to recover the gold are: mercury, a trommel, water pumps, and an excavator. The local village where they extract the gold is across the river, while the nearest town is Romaso, Ghana, and the nearest city is Dunkwa, Ghana. Filming for the second season started on March 6, 2013, with the season premiering on August 11, 2013.
  • After the last episode of Season 1, Armed Robbery, and the "Behind the Scenes" special aired, there was a degree of speculation as to whether or not the heist was faked.

Born and raised in Liverpool, signed by an inexperienced agent named Brian Epstein, hustled into the studio with a genius producer named George Martin...and out of that session came a hit song called "Do You Want To Know A Secret." Now here's the twist…we're not talking about The Beatles.
