From Gigi Graciette:
Murder on Route 66
Right now police are operating under the theory that only
three people know what happened at the Glendora Car Wash this morning and two
of them are dead.
It was just before 2am when a man flagged down a passing
police car on Route 66, just west of Vermont. He had heard screams coming from
the car wash up the street, he told the Glendora Police Lieutenant, and had
seen a man running away. He feared something bad had happened.
It had. Something really bad.
Police arrived to find two men dead. One lying by the
curb appeared to have been trying to run away from his killer. The other, was
found lying next to a wheelchair, thought to be his.
The coroner will make the official determination on how
they died but from what police saw, it looks like both were stabbed to death.
And while their names haven't been released yet, everyone
seems to know who they are. Two local homeless men known to seek shelter at the
car wash after dark.
Neighbors even knew their first names; I won't repeat
them until I know their family's have been properly notified. 'They weren't
panhandlers and kept to themselves', one man tells me.
While another man, who tells me he's homeless and
sometimes sleeps at the car wash too, thinks it was a stranger who killed his
"I can't imagine thinking it was someone they
knew"' he says. "I wouldn't be able to handle that."
