Minnesota health officials revealed the results a statewide patient experience survey on Wednesday, naming the top performers and unveiling an online tool so patients can see how their provider stacks up.
The Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Community Measurement spearheaded the Minnesota HealthScores survey, which is aimed at analyzing at the following components of health care:
- Care access
- Timeliness of care
- Communication between doctors, nurses and patients
- How patients rank the clinic providers and staff
The 230,000-respondent survey looked at over 600 hospitals, clinics and medical groups across the state.
"Patient experience, cost, and quality are important features to consider in the overall delivery of care," said Minnesota Commissioner of Health Dr. Ed Ehlinger. "With the addition of the patient experience survey, Minnesota strengthens its position as a national leader in health care reform and reaffirms its commitment to helping Minnesotans make quality decisions about their health care."
