ASK ADRIENNE: Dating after divorce, losing a friend and housing struggles
Adrienne Laursen, licensed marriage and family therapist, joins us with answers to your most pressing life, love and everything-in-between questions.
Adrienne addresses the following quandaries:
QUESTION 1: I've been with my boyfriend for almost two years now and we are ready to move in and buy a place and start a life together. With my minimal income, I won't be added to the loan. We aren't engaged because we can only afford one thing – a ring or a house, and we chose the house. I'm scared to give him my savings to help with the down payment since my name will not be attached to the house at all. I've tried talking with him he gets hurt, saying I don't trust him and maybe we shouldn't move to the next step in our relationship. What do you suggest I do?
QUESTION 2: How long after a divorce should you wait to start dating again? I'm a single mom of 3 kids under 6. I worry about the effect a new man could have on them and worry that men will be scared off by the fact I have 3 small children
QUESTION 3: I seem to be losing my best friend. She and I have nothing in common anymore as our lives are headed in VERY different directions. I love her dearly and don't want us to grow apart any further than we already have. What can we do to get our friend relationship back on track? Is it even possible?
