There is a chance of some decent rain overnight Saturday into early Sunday as an area of low pressure tracks across Southern Minnesota. Decent defined as about an inch in some parts of Southern Minnesota. Here in the metro we will watch as the rain moves mainly to our south. However, as we discovered a few weeks ago, we need to always watch the development of these overnight rumblers. Forecast models are in good agreement that most of the rain will stay south of the Twin Cities Metro. Below is just one of the models showing what the radar may look like at about 5 am Sunday morning, give or take a few hours. As you can see, the area of showers and storms will be form the metro south, with the heaviest action hugging the Minnesota-Iowa border.

As far as totals, the QPF, known as the Quantitative Precipitation Forecast, shows 24 hours rain totals of about an inch in extreme southwestern Minnesota with lesser amounts east and north.

Its good timing as the rain will move on and some sun is possible, mixed with a lot of clouds, as we head into the afternoon Sunday. There you go; the weekend is not a total washout. Frazier
