Violent Night In Trenton

TRENTON, N.J. -

52-year-old Barry Church And 23-year-old Carmen Wright of Philadelphia are the innocent victims of Trenton, New Jersey's latest gun violence.

"It's a mother's worst nightmare," says Ruth Wright, Carmen's mother.

Ruth Wright's nightmare unfolded just after 11 p.m. on Saturday night while her daughter Carmen was visiting her 22-year-old cousin.

Police say a Chevy Blazer flipped over after slamming into two parked cars, it then plowed into Wright and her cousin as they were crossing East State Street.

Police found the driver, 22-year-old Hassan Allen, inside with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Carmen's mother urges any shooting witnesses to break the cycle of silence.

"I'm begging you to come forward. Its a mothers worst night mare," pleads Ruth. "If you have any heart or conscience."

Just three blocks up from the crash, bullet shells litter the 1100 block of State Street. That's where 52-year-old Barry Church was found shot to death. Police say he was enjoying the evening on the steps of this house.

"It's heartache. It's pain. I'm sick and tired of this violence," says Rooney Morris.

As firefighters tried to wash away the remnants of the violent night that left two people dead and two cousins in the hospital, the families' of the three innocent victims are now left to deal with heartache and the emotional aftermath of gun violence.

"I'm still feeling like he's still outside maybe visiting his brother or friend or something," says Joann Morris, Barry's girlfriend.

"He meant a lot to me. Meant a lot to me. Didn't realize how much until he's gone," says Rooney.

"It's not her time. she's got work to do..." says Carmen's older sister.
