ATLANTA -

An anonymous donor is giving the gift of sight to a local man going blind.

David Gama suffers from keratoconus, a degenerative disorder of the cornea that causes the graphic designer's world to become darker and darker.

FOX 5 first reported on the 32-year-old and his wife, Janelle, in June. The couple started a campaign to raise money for a procedure to help reverse the problem.

Their goal was to get treatment from eye surgeon Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"I've done a lot of research and he has the highest success rate," Gama said.

After the story aired, a compassionate stranger stepped up to fund the cost of the surgery.

With the gift, Gama's world is already looking a little clearer with plans for the future now possible.

"Everything –  children. For me, I know that I can say that I'll be a better husband.  I haven't taken her to the movies in I don't know how long," Gama said.  "Every day things are going to change."

The Gamas hope their story will help others pay attention to their own vision. They promise to keep us posted on David's progress through the surgery.
