Man dies at HCMC after shooting in south Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide on the city's south side after gunfire rang out near 43rd Street East and 5th Avenue South shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Monday night.

Responding officers found a man suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound on 43rd Street East between 4th and 5th avenues. Although he was taken to HCMC by EMS, he passed away a short time later.

The victim's identity and exact cause of death will be released by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Homicide detectives have been assigned to the case, but no arrests have been made so far. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call 612-692-8477.

Investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene on Monday night who said the shots were fired from a vehicle. The man who was killed was on the street at the time.

At this time, authorities do not believe the shooting was a random act.
