Wis. woman struck, killed by car during Polk County bar fight

POLK COUNTY, Wis. (KMSP) -

A 35-year-old woman from Luck, Wis., was killed in an incident outside of a Polk County bar near closing time early Saturday morning.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the incident began when a fight broke out at about 2:30 a.m. at the Staples Lake Bar, located at 1977 Polk Barron St.in Johnstown Township, Wis.

Responding officers found multiple people with injuries at the scene, including Michelle Lowe. Deputies say Lowe was lying in the parking lot after she was reportedly struck by suspect Benjamin Biron, 26, of Comstock, Wis.

Police later confirmed Lowe was pronounced dead at the Cumberland Hospital from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses recorded the license plate of the fleeing suspect vehicle that officers later located at a Barron County home.  Investigators arrested Biron and a second suspect, 26-year-old Ryan Mazurek, Barronett, Wis.

Biron is being held on homicide and DUI charges while Mazurek is charged with substantial battery for injuries sustained by a different victim.

The case remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
