Sports movies: Love 'em or hate 'em?

Posted: Updated:
I just saw 42 last night, and have to say, it was one of the best sports movies I've seen. Now, I'm no movie-feen, but I know a good movie when I see one – and 42fulfills the definition of a movie that depicts a true story – that of Jackie Robinson.

I remember when The Blind Side came out, there were all sorts of reviews on how some scenes were exaggerated, or how some of them didn't actually happen in reallife. Michael Oher's story is a great one, and definitely worth telling. However, we have to remember that the movie-making business is a big one, and writers/producers/directors have a job to entertain us – keep us interested in what's going on in the movie. That can often lead those guys to deter off the course of what happened in real life.

That's why I want to know how you feel about sports movies – love ‘em or hate ‘em?

Like I mentioned, not at all an expert on movies, but I do have my favorites. Here are some of my favorites (in no particular order):

Remember The Titans
Hoosiers
42
Radio
We Are Marshall
Caddyshack
Miracle

Mind you (some of you will let out a huge gasp when you read this), I haven't seen Rudy yet. YES, I know it is a must see if you're a sports nut. YES, it's on myto-do this. I promise, I'll get around to it ASAP.

Let me know what your top sports movies are – or any you think I should see besides Rudy. How about books, too?

Last week, I had the opportunity to finally cover THE circus. Yes, THE SEC Media Days. College football really gets my juices flowing, and I couldn't wait to get to Hoover, Alabama.

The All-Star Break is here, and it couldn't have come at a better time for the Braves.  They're hurting-- literally.  But can the team stay healthy enough to make a playoff run?
