New Georgia State law school building in the works

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia State University is set to break ground Sept. 12 on its new law school building.

Steven Kaminshine, dean of GSU's College of Law, told the Fulton County Daily Report this week that the design will promote a collaborative learning environment.

Faculty offices will be on the same floor as classrooms and there will be a library on the top two floors of the seven-story building located in downtown Atlanta.

The Legislature recently approved $58.8 million in bond funding for the new law school, which will cover a large portion of its $82.5 million cost.

Kaminshine says the bonds have sold and construction is expected to be completed by fall 2015. The school also received a $5 million grant from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation.
