HUGO, Minn. (KMSP) -

Volunteers have organized four days of searches for Ray Novakovic, a 76-year-old man from Hugo, Minn. who has been missing since an after-dinner walk on the evening of Sunday, July 21.

AFTER DINNER WALK

Olga Novakovic said she and Ray began their walk together at about 7 p.m. Sunday night. Although it's common for her to turn around when she gets tired, Ray – an avid walker -- would often go on ahead and return on his own.

Olga said her husband of 50 years often walks 3 to 4 miles each day.

"Now, I think: Why didn't I go with him instead of go back?" she said.

An extensive search began hours after he went missing and continued into Monday. Police, firefighters and volunteers using dogs, horses and even the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter have failed to turn up any sign.

DESCRIPTION

Ray Novakovic is described as standing 5-feet-6-inches tall and has gray hair. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt, khaki pants and a hat. He also has diabetes and occasionally suffers from confusion.

"Add all those things together, and it's not the best," Washington County Sheriff William Hutton said. "So, that's why we want the public to continue to look, continue to monitor, continue to check their properties to find out if the individual may be there."

Someone matching Ray Novakovic's description was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night in northern White Bear Lake Township near Bald Eagle Lake, and official say he may also have been spotted near Centennial.

Anyone with information is urged to call 651-439-9381.
