Fire Reported At Gulf Of Mexico Natural Gas Well

Posted: Updated:

A fire is burning on a natural gas well in the Gulf of Mexico.

It happened hours after a surge of natural gas flowed up a drill pipe from below the sea floor and caused an explosion.

All 44 workers on the rig were evacuated before the fire started and there were no injuries.

A spokesman says they do not know what caused the gas to ignite.
