Police are asking the public to help find a 76-year-old man who has been missing since he took a walk after supper on Sunday night, and his wife tells FOX 9 News she is wondering where he could have gone.

Olga Novakovic said she and her husband, Ray, began their walk together. They left their house at about 7 p.m. on Sunday night, and although it's common for her to turn around when she gets tired, the avid walker would often go on ahead and return on his own.

"He often said to me, 'Oh, what I would do without you?' and I said, 'Ray, what I would do without you?'" Olga Novakovic told FOX 9 News. "I said, 'I'm so thankful we have each other.'"

The two have been married for more than 50 years, and despite a gait his wife describes as more of a shuffle, her husband often trod 3-4 miles a day.

"Out there walking on a daily basis," said Washington County Sheriff William Hutton. "He'd walk in multiple different directions, multiple different paths."

That has made finding Ray Novakovic that much more difficult. An extensive search began hours after he went missing and continued into Monday. Police, firefighters and volunteers using dogs, horses and even the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter have failed to turn up any sign.

"I said, 'Okay, have a good walk,' and this happen," Olga Novakovic recalled. "Now, I think: Why didn't I go with him instead of go back?"

Ray Novakovic is described as standing 5-feet-6-inches tall and has gray hair. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt, khaki pants and a hat. He also has diabetes and occasionally suffers from confusion.

"Add all those things together, and it's not the best," Hutton said. "So, that's why we want the public to continue to look, continue to monitor, continue to check their properties to find out if the individual may be there."

Olga Novakovic had hoped that he might found by Monday morning, thinking he may have gotten tired and disoriented sitting on a bench.

"You know, I still hope," she said. "I still feel that he is somewhere, but it's hard to me to think that he's suffering."

As time goes on, she admits she's becoming increasingly concerned.

"You know, we belong to God," she said. "God knows everything, and even if we don't see each other here, we're going to see each other there."

Someone matching Ray Novakovic's description was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night in northern White Bear Lake Township near Bald Eagle Lake, and official say he may also have been spotted near Centennial.
